Songwriting
This is my songwriting page!
Here are links to my newest song demos in Nashville:
1. Wild Honey – Tommy Cecil / Kris Hitchcock / Ryan Beuschel
I came to Nashville with this idea to do a bookend chorus around the phrase “Wild Honey”, and I had a pretty clear idea for a melody in the chorus. I brought it to Ryan and we spent several sessions really trying to figure out this girl, what made her wild and sweet at the same time. We asked Tommy to lend some of his lyrical genius to the song, and we eventually ended up with this polished, rocking, sweet and crazy summer anthem.
2. Take Her Back To Memphis – Kris Hitchcock / Rick Tiger / Matt Willis
Two of my favorite guys to write with! In our first session together, we talked about this couple that were friends of Matt and Rick, and had met in the past but never had worked out their relationship. They ended up meeting many years later and fell in love, later getting married. We decided to write about what might have happened; in this song “Memphis” represents a place in their past where they shared some great memories.
3. Things I Didnt Know – Kris Hitchcock / Bill Seymour
This song is one I started writing on my own, but I didn’t like the direction it went. I brought it to Bill Seymour, who I had met by singing a demo on one of his other songs (below). Bill is a great lyricist, and we knocked this one out in 1 1/2 writes. It’s about a relationship where the singer didn’t realize what he was losing until he lost it.
